Community Advocacy

Geneva Savvy Media

Brittany Geneva Cummings is an award-winning storyteller, communications expert, and community advocate focused on social justice and racial equity. As Vice President of Strategic Campaigns at BerlinRosen, Brittany leads integrated comms for several advocacy organizations and social justice initiatives, shaping strategy around critical issues affecting Black and historically underserved communities with earned and digital media. Brittany is also leading the creation and development of an influencer marketing practice at the agency.

Additionally, Brittany serves as Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner of District 8E06 in Washington, D.C., a non-partisan, unpaid position she was elected to in November 2020. In that role she represents the community through advocacy and engagement with D.C. and Federal agencies regarding economic development, public safety, zoning, transportation, social services and more.

During Brittany’s eleven-year career, she has always centered cultural competency and community support, whether counseling clients on how to authentically reach communities of color, or creating spaces for team members of color to gather and connect. Prior to joining BerlinRosen, Brittany served as Vice President of Brand at Edelman, leading multiple accounts and delivering integrated marketing strategies and multicultural communications counsel to her clients. At the same time, she sat on the board of the Greater Washington Urban League Young Professionals (Thursday Network) as PR/Marketing Chair then Vice President, working to advance the core pillars of community engagement, political advocacy, youth empowerment, economic security, and social determinants of health.

Before joining Edelman, she was Senior Manager of Consumer Public Relations at Marriott International, leading storytelling around content, partnerships, experiential activations as well as multicultural campaigns designed to drive brand loyalty, including the launch of Love Travels Beyond Barriers featuring Luis Fonsi and Lena Waithe. Before that, she was a Lead Media Strategist at Weber Shandwick, securing top tier media coverage for clients across many sectors and industries, and helping establish One Weber, the first resource group formed for employees of color in the New York office. While at Weber, she was honored with PR News’ Rising Stars Under 30 award.

Through her in-house and agency experience, Brittany has developed a unique mix of travel, lifestyle, and social impact expertise, executing communications campaigns for brands including W Hotels, Aloft Hotels, Hilton Worldwide, Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Dubai Tourism. Her consumer experience extends to non-travel brands including Adobe, State Farm, Verizon, Shutterfly and John Deere. In addition to her primary comms work, Brittany also provides freelance services; past projects include the 2013 Morehouse College Commencement Ceremony featuring President Barack Obama, the 2014 National Association of Black Journalists Convention, and the 2015 American Black Film Festival. In 2019 she founded Geneva Savvy Media, focused on helping small businesses, organizations and political candidates develop their online presence.

In 2018 she launched Geneva Says, a podcast featuring personal stories and commentary on society and culture.

Brittany began her career as a journalist, producing at CNN and AJAM. She earned bachelor’s degrees in both Journalism and Political Science from Georgia State University, as well as a New Media Studies certificate through the Semester in Washington Journalism Program at George Washington University. Brittany was born in Sacramento, California but considers herself an Atlanta native, having spent the majority of her life there before moving to New York City in 2013 then relocating to Washington D.C. in 2017.
